Bio:	Ian's photography is a celebration of Britain's spectacularly beautiful natural landscape. From the Highlands of Scotland to the Cornish coast, from the mountains of Snowdonia to the Norfolk Broads, Britain is blessed with a remarkable diversity of landscapes. It is this diversity and beauty which, in his photography, Ian hopes to explore and share.

<p>Hunstanton is the only part of the Norfolk coast that actually faces west. As a result it's always a little disorienting for us East Anglian photographers to be presented with beach features that are touched by light from the setting sun!  </p>

<p>I love Rannoch Moor.  I'll never forget the impact of this wonderful and precious piece of wilderness when I saw it for the first time.  As you drive along the A82 towards Glencoe you're suddenly presented with the sight of this remarkable landscape - you couldn't ask for a more spectacular introduction to the beauties of the Scottish Highlands.</p>

Another of Herringfleet, the windpump that lies in the Norfolk Broads but on the Suffolk side of the Norfolk/Suffolk border.

Herringfleet Mill can be found where you might least expect to find it - about twenty yards on the Suffolk side of the Norfolk/Suffolk border. <br /><br />Given Norfolk's monopoly on spectacular, well-preserved mills, it seems only fair that neighbouring Suffolk should have a few of its own...although it should be noted that even this mill is officially in the Norfolk Broads.<br /><br />This photograph was taken on an extremely cold and windy winter's day.

<p>A view of the National Trust-owned Horsey Windpump on the Norfolk Broads. The conventional view of this structure is from the stretch of water that connects the mill with Horsey Mere. So I thought I'd try a different point of view by standing at the roadside to capture the reeds swaying in the cold March wind - a slightly precarious position given the speed at which some of those Norfolk drivers drive!</p>

Porth Nanven is not an easy beach to find. There are no signposts directing you to this extraordinary National Trust-owned location, perhaps because its unique geological features would be placed at risk if it were to become too well known. We spent a great deal of time driving around the back streets of St Just before we managed to track down the little lane that leads to Porth Nanven. It was worth the effort. With its extraordinary rock formations, and its perfect egg-shaped stones, this is a magical location. <br /><br />This image has been composed with the purpose of capturing the colours of the rocks sprinkled generously about the beach, the warmly lit cliff and the light produced by the low, late afternoon sun.<br />

<p>I was thrilled to bits when this image was selected to appear in last year's AA/Sunday Times Landscape Photographer of the Year exhibition at the National Theatre in London. The print was enormous and yet the quality of the image was not impaired as a result. Given that this was taken with a Canon 20D (8 MP) it did make me wonder when I looked at the print whether we really need the sort of high MP resolution that camera manufacturers insist on offering us nowadays. </p>

A view from Port na Cullaidh at Elgol across Loch Skavaig towards the majestic, magical, mysterious Black Cuillin hills. However many times you visit this remarkable location its astonishing beauty never fails to take the breath away.

Mersea Island, the most Easterly populated island in the UK, may not be renowned as a photogenic location, but, standing here at East Mersea, with the gently flowing seawater lapping against the tops of the wellies, with the line of posts so obligingly composed, and with the glorious colours spreading across the late afternoon sky, it was possible for a moment or two to believe that this was the most beautiful place on Earth.<br />

A dramatic sea and threatening sky at Portland Bill on the Dorset coast. It's a long drive from East Anglia to Dorset and back again, especially when you discover on your way home that someone in their infinite wisdom has decided to shut down the M3 motorway for bridge repairs. We stumbled through our front door at 3.30am the following morning. <img alt="" src="/aries/FCKeditor/editor/images/smiley/msn/angry_smile.gif" />

<p>This shot, taken as the sun set over the horizon at Penmon on Anglesey, was intended to capture the wave at the moment when it covered only a portion of the foreground pebbles, leaving the remaining wet pebbles exposed.  In retrospect I think it would have been better had the sun been a little more central.</p>

A view from the beach at Elgol towards the Cuillin Hills on Skye. Shortly before this was taken my wife and I sat in the car (waiting for the rain to stop!) and watched as school children left the tiny primary school built close to the edge of the beach.  I'd love to know what recollections those children have of their education in such an extraordinary place.

<p id="imageDescription">Llyn Cregennen lies a short drive up a single lane road from the North Wales village of Arthog. Consisting of two bodies of water, the lake has all a landscape photographer could wish for : the peak of Pared y Cefn-hir – alpine in shape if not in stature, foreground rocks, boathouses, flourishing summer flowers, and of particular interest to the middle-aged landscape photographer, easily accessible public lavatories! <img alt="" src="/aries/FCKeditor/editor/images/smiley/msn/regular_smile.gif" /><br /><br />Edit - wrong Image Category...apologies for that!</p>

Another from the magical location of Llyn Cregennen in North Wales.  Have a great weekend - stay dry!

Slaughden, in common with so many other places on the East Coast of England, is threatened by erosion from the North Sea. Large boulders have been imported from Scandinavia and placed in strategic places along the East Coast as a protective measure. There is a certain irony in the fact that in such places the imported boulders are often the most photogenic feature. <br /><br />This image was captured in mid-January. Although the East Coast is known – for obvious reasons – as the “sunrise coast”, this image is a testament to the fact that in the winter months good light and impressive skies are also available at the other end of the day.<br /><br />Canon EOS 5D and 16-35mm lens.<br /><br />Exposure of 1.3 seconds at f/20.

Take one of East Anglia’s most photogenic windmills, and add a generous dose of superlative-defying colour and light, and what do you have? Herringfleet Heaven!

Discarded millstones lie on Curbar Edge, one of the many spectacular locations of the Peak District.
