This is a shot of a 3-4mm jumping spider. I saw this little critter when I up-turned a leaf and found her protecting her clutch of eggs. She curiously came up to me bringing her close to my lens.</p>
<p>
Shot with a reversed Nikkor 18-55VR lens. Manually set to, f11, at 35mm (reversed).</p>

This Leaf Had The Full Weight Of Frost On It And Was Being Pulled Down</p>

For these I tried two methods, both utilising off camera Nikon Speedlight:</p>
<p>
1) Highest shutter speed with camera set to Auto FP (High Speed Sync). Tricky this, as Auto FP isn't as good as it sounds and flash power drops considerably, meaning it has to be very close - and gets wet!</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
2) Using camera's highest normal sync speed of 1/200th in relatively dark room and off camera speedlight set to 1/20th power - roughly 1/12000th sec flash burst.</p>
<p>
Rest of the kit was a plastic bottle to provide the drips, glass baking dish,  some left over Christmas wrapping paper for the colour and a lot of trial and error.</p>

Flowers from tesco offer an opportunity these grey damps days. </p>

<p>
Macro shots taken of 4 fruits and veg over a light box then combined into 1 image.  I saw this tutorial in the recption area of the dentist the other day and thought I would give it a go.  My light box has a diffused pane of glass on it which does not quite give the best results...maybe I'll change the glass to clear and do it again!  The 4 Nikon RAW files are:</p>

DSC_1860.NEF, 1862.NEF, 1865.NEF and 1866.NEF</p>

My sister's eye, shot in the back garden on a nice cloudy day. She hates seeing her mascara job up close.</p>

<p>
This tiny frog about 5cm long was captured on the rim of a Bird of Paradise leaf. Sweet and dainty!</p>

Many many shots later and I managed to get something...</p>
<p>
This dandelion was quite large so thought I would have a go at capturing some water droplets</p>
<p>
An empty, washed out spray bottle was used to create the drops. I used a 13mm Extension tube coupled to a 50mm lens. With an off camera flash just to help with lighting</p>
